MOONDOG If you were to take a poll from sci-fi TV and movies the list would most certainly include the Space:1999 Eagle, The Moonbase Alpha workhorse generally regarded as one of the better attempts at a plausible spacecraft design.  For that we can thank special effects director Brian Johnson, who originated the concept with its distinctive open-frame construction. Nearly forty years later, the Eagle certainly deserves its status as a classic design and is the favorite of many talented model makers who create stunning replicas of the original studio models.  Needless to say it’s always been one of my favorites too, so I thought for this model project it might be interesting to do something a little different and create an original vehicle that uses the Eagle configuration as merely a starting point.  What I was aiming for was something that looked distinctly different from the Eagle, yet incorporated a number of analogous features and details. The Moondog , which was completed in 2002, features functioning landing struts, various working lights and is one of my favorites. An in-depth article on its construction can be seen in Sci- Fi&Fantasy Modeller presents: Modelling the 21st Century Volume 1. Gold Award - Wonderfest 2002
It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.   Robert H. Goddard
